Dr Sheila Redfern
Clinical and Programme Director
Dr Anoushka Khan
Hello! I am Anoushka Khan and I have worked as a clinical psychologist in NHS CAMHS services, children’s social care services, and the charity sector; working predominantly in Children Looked-After, Adoption support and Family Trauma services. Reflective Parenting, a mentalisation-based approach, has informed and influenced my work across the board, supporting children, young people, parents and carers, as well as social care teams for a number of years now. I am experienced in delivering the Reflective Parenting Programme to groups of Special Guardians. As part of a national RCT study, and outside of the study, I have supported training programmes for foster carers, social care and mental health professionals in the UK and internationally, to deliver the Reflective Fostering Programme, and have provided group facilitators with regular consultation. I look forward to supporting you in your training!

Dr Charlotte Morton
I’m Dr. Charlotte Morton, a clinical psychologist with experience of working in several Local Authorities, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and in the charity sector supporting children and families across a range of London boroughs and Berkshire. Since qualifying, I have specialised in working with children in care and with adoptive and special guardianship families, which has included working closely with Sheila and other colleagues during our work at the Anna Freud Centre to develop an adapted version of the Reflective Parenting group model to meet the specific needs of special guardians. When working therapeutically with parents/carers and their children, I strongly believe in relationally focused ways of working and I primarily draw on principles of mentalization-based therapy (MBT), dyadic developmental psychotherapy (DDP) and systemic approaches, often with the aim of promoting greater connection, understanding and communication in parent-child relationships.

In my previous jobs, I have predominantly worked in clinical teams within Local Authority Children’s Social Care to support families and children who have experienced complex trauma.
